I'm 14 and i think i might have tinnitus, should i be worried?

Question: I'm 14 and i think i might have tinnitus, should i be worried?

I have a sound in my year for about 6 months now, its not as much a ringing as a singing, my ear is just constantly singing to me I know that sounds weird but its the best way to describe it. My Dad says its probably tinnitus but he always seems a but worried and says that he hopes it only short term. Should I be worried?

Ringing or singing in your ear can be a problem that really needs to be looked at. It could be fluid build up which could cause other problems or it could just be something simple. But you should tell you dad that you need or want to go to the doc to make the singing stop

Don't stress out to much it could be nothing. In the meantime make an appointmen with an ENT doctor to get checked out. Frequent tinnitus can be caused by Ménière's Disease. Ménière's (say "men-YEERS ") disease is a disorder of the inner ear that affects hearing and balance. It causes sudden attacks of vertigo (a spinning sensation), tinnitus (a loud ringing in the ears), and a loss of hearing that may become permanent. Ménière's disease usually develops between the ages of 40 and 60 and affects both men and women. Children can also have Ménière's disease.

Do you listen to a lot of loud music or go to music concerts a lot? I'm 18 and have gone to see quite a few live bands, parties etc and always have ringing in my ears after which tends to go away. But now I've noticed there's always a ringing in my ears. Don't notice it really during the day, but when everythings quiet it can bug me. I feel silly but now I always remember to take ear plugs with me to a concert or a club, don't worry you can still hear everything okay...I find it sounds better actually. But it helps to protect your hearing...I reallyyy regret not ever wearing them before now...I don't wanna be deaf when I'm older! ahah You can also buy special ones from music shops that filter out the bad sound, think they're around 15 pounds? My friend who plays in a band has some. But as someone else has said it could also be other problems too, I'd go get it checked out if you're worried.
