Can you get tinnitus from hearing a certain frequency?

Question: Can you get tinnitus from hearing a certain frequency?

(Posted by: J L on 2010-02-14 19:49:28)

Ive now figured out I got tinnitus, this is the 2nd day of having it so far. Could it of been caused by this? - I downloaded different bass albums, and not at a high volume but more of a medium volume I played a track that went from 40k hz to 0 hz, back and forth again. After that I played a lil system of a down lil loud like i always do but I never had a ringing that has never went away before. when i say 40k - 0hz i mean it plays every single frequency back and forth. its just bugging me out how I can always listen to music lil loud all through my life and it has never ever affected me, ive been to tonssss of concerts, then all of a sudden out of no where it hits. I do remember, when i was listening to that track, i listened to it about 4- 5 times, it was pretty tight. But I have a logitech z- 5500 system in a stereo surround setup and when it was hitting the high volumes 1k and up I could feel it hitting my ear, like reflecting off my ear in a way. its hard to describe, you have to have a good system. now that I think of it, it started almost exactly after that. well i was honeslty hoping that what was happening was something differnet then full blown tinnitus from sound damage... so i guess im screwed, oh well it was a good life.

Tinnitus is a cumulative effect. The damage has been done. It will get worse if you continue damaging your hearing with loud volume music or noise. And it's not just certain frequencies, it's intensity of sound. I believe the hearing loss from exposure to loud noise/ music slowly destroys the hearing on the higher range----you start to be unable to hear the higher frequencies clearly. ........... "all of a sudden, out of nowhere it hits? " It's been building up (the damage) for years, and now has gotten to the point where it's noticeable. It will get worse, if you continue. Why don't you simply google tinnitus and get more information on it?
