The first thing I'd like to say is that I understand because I have tinnitus too. And I've had it for 20 years! Usually, with an ear infection, the tinnitus does go away, as long as the infection is treated promptly. As yours has gone on for 2 months now, I think you should, if you haven't already, get your mom to contact your doctor and ask him/ her to refer you to an ENT (Ear, Nose and Throat) specialist. An ENT specialist is used to treating this type of thing and will understand everything you say a lot better than an ordinary doctor. The specialist can do tests, find out what is going on, and determine how best to treat you. There are things that can help you, and you won't feel so alone in trying to cope with it. The next thing I'd like to say to you is that thinking way ahead into the future would overwhelm anyone, and it's obviously overwhelming you. It's a bit like if a fiancee thought about the mountain of dirty dishes she would have to wash during her entire married life. Wouldn't that be enough to make any bride jilt the groom at the altar? :0) I know when I first got my tinnitus, I used to lie in bed at night waiting for the first bird to sing just to get another noise to listen to. I tried and tried to make myself go back to silence, but my tinnitus just seemed to be even louder the more I tried. Later I found out that feeling stressed makes it worse, but at the time, I didn't know that. It took me a long time to come to the point where I stopped trying to get back to silence. But when that happened, I started, very gradually, to notice that if I concentrated really hard on something I liked, I could forget the noise for just a little while. I would watch a favorite movie, get stuck into a good book, talk with friends, anything to take my mind away from thinking about the noise in my ears. It would only work for maybe a minute at a time at first, but then the minute turned to five minutes and ten and half an hour.. till nowadays I hardly notice I have it at all. So just try to take things one day at a time. Say to yourself that you only have to get through the next hour, not the next 70 years! Do something fun for that hour, and things may seem a bit brighter. And remember, that, even if the worst comes to the worst, and your tinnitus doesn't go away, there are things that can be done to help you. You might want to google some tinnitus support groups as well, so you can talk to others who know what you are going through. (((hugs))) |
