Hi I am sorry to hear about your daughters condition. Has your daughter seen a doctor to determine the cause of the tinnitus since "Tinnitus is not itself a disease, but an unwelcome symptom resulting from a range of underlying causes, including ear infections, foreign objects or wax in the ear, and injury from loud noises, as may have been experienced by war veterans (bombardments, shelling, etc.). " [ Source : home.planet.nl/ ~inibara/ hearing.htm ] If your daughter is still young then there is a greater chance for recovery from this. Here is a fact sheet from the British Tinnitus Association you might like to read. tinnitus.org.uk/ information/ info%20sheets/ front%20page/ what_is_tinnitus.htm Whether there is a cure or not could be open to debate. It probably depends on the cause. If your daughter has been getting alot of infections then it is possible that it may be related to this and could be down to infections of the ears and/ or ear wax. So it would be advisable for her to see a doctor and preferably a Specialist Ear, Nose & Throat Doctor. To help with her getting repeated infections then it would be advisable for her to take something to boost the immune system. The best thing to take for this is the herb Echinacea. It is best taken before the start of the cold/ flu season for a month, with a rest of two weeks and can be taken again. Apart from this, it can be taken at the onset of any infection and continued as long as is necessary although 4 weeks on and 2 weeks off is the best way to take it. Apart from this, lots of Vitamin C and/ or a Vitamin C tablet and a good quality multivitamin containing zinc and lots of antioxidant-rich fruit and vegetables. Some herbs specifically for tinnitus include the herbs Black Cohosh and Gingko bilboba. Actually these have been recommended taken together for this: holisticonline.com/ Remedies/ Ear/ tin_alt_herbal-medicine.htm The only time not to take Gingko is if you have had an haemorrhagic stroke or on blood thinning medication otherwise should be fine. Its also great for general circulation and a memory boost and is a powerful antioxidant. She could also try homeopathy as well as the herbs or instead of them to reduce costs. The choice of homeopathic treatment will depend on the nature of the symptoms. Just look through this list for her: publix.com/ wellness/ notes/ Display.do?id= Homeo &childId= Tinnitus_hm I have answered question on Y! Get her to the doctors and try some herbals too. There is hope for recovery. Accupuncture could also be another option. Hope this helps. Best wishes . |
