Question: Tinnitus relief?.......?

Got back from the doc not to long ago, and he told me everything I didn't want to hear. I have had tinnitus and a mild hearing loss for almost a year now, and I want relief! I have already been to an ENT who told me he couldn't help. Is there a specialist or something for this? I have herad there are things that can help, like maskers, and medicine. Has anyone out there gotten relief from either hearing aids, maskers, or medicine? Thanks. btw...I'm only 17. I just want the doc to give me something!! The ringing gets really annoying in school, especially when im teying to take tests. thanks golden gal.....I'm going to ask my mom to call another ENT. If you dont mind me asking, What gave you your hearing loss in the first place? Mine was from surgeries when i was younger...tubes in my ears and stuff like that.

Go to a Better ENT! I had it for years I have had ear problems since I was a very young child. Tinnitus is cause by many factors. fluid building up in the ear pressing on the nerves in the middle ear, to nerve damage. Unless you have been through all the tests to determine what the cause is then no one can tell what your options are! I had 4 surgeries on my right near. Just one not to long ago to replace a EP tube and remove scar tissue! I have 20% hearing loss in that ear but I'm not deaf in it. My tinnitus is now gone. You need to find a new ENT who will do all the testing and find the cause first then tell you your options. Your too young to go through life with ringing in your ears!
