Question: Ringing in ears. what are some relief procedures i can do?

I had an ear infection recently and the ringing started in my left ear and was like 10/ 10 loud. its now about a 2/ 10. so it has died down alot. its been three weeks since the infection started. Throughout the day i still get ear aches and the noise changes in sound. like low- high then high- low. is this a sign that my ear is healing? and my right ear had it from ear infections and its starting to come back but it only afects me at night. It feels as if it starting to leave but i dont know. ANy idea wats going on and any relief things i can do to lower it? caffeine and stuff like that doesn't change the loudness of it. I just want to be able to sleep and go about life normally again as im still in school im only 16 :( and i dont listen to ipods and am not exposed to loud noise at all
