Question: Ringing in the ears (tinnitus) and british army?

I have completed my basic training, and I am now at phase 2. However, somewhere along the line, my ears started ringing loudly. I thought it would pass, but it has not. Its been about 2 months of loud whistling, and I have a medical appointment about it soon. What are the rules about this? I know that there is a clamp down on hearing, but do you think I will get discharged, or can this be fixed at all?

Hi i am an ex soldier and i have tinnitus. their are many causes of this it could be raised blood pressure,not using your ear defenders whilst shooting or the music you are listing to being far to loud if you don't want to be in the army you may find this is not good enough to get you discharged. there are many soldiers coming back from Afghanistan with hearing problems due to returning fire whilst being shot at. you might have to buy yourself out. hope this helps

It may be a simple case of ear-wax! Get a bottle of Cerumol or Earex and use as directed and see if it improves.
